Our Computer Technology Program offers the community the opportunity to improve workplace skills through hands on classes. The program offers twelve courses in different computer applications. Each three-hour class is taught bilingually in Spanish and English, and meets once a week for ten weeks in Centro Latino’s state of the art computer lab. New cycles begin every three months and are offered throughout the year.

Registration
Every course has an open registration policy and there are no academic requirements. We recommend that all beginner students with very little or no experience take the Introduction to Computers Course to become familiar with the fundamental knowledge. After completing the introductory course, the student can register for any other course being offered.
Centro Latino works with various employers, many of whom subsidize training for their employees. Check with your employer to see if you qualify for training benefits.
No previous computer experience is required and everyone is welcome. There is no admission or placement test, except for advanced courses that require general knowledge of the Microsoft Windows Operation system. The fee for each course is $300. For our student’s convenience, we offer payment options that allow for a part of the fee to be paid upon registration, with full payment required by the third week of class. We accept cash, check, money order or credit card payments.

Certificate of Completion
Upon successfully completing the basic requirements at the end of the course, students receive a certificate of completion.
This program is licensed by the Mass Department of Education as a private occupational school, and has a regular review of its curricula, instruction and policies, including its refund policy.
Program Course Descriptions
CT100 – Keyboarding
Develop great speed and excellent typing skills with this fun and useful course. This course will teach you finger positioning, speed, coordination and effective typing techniques. The course is taught using Typing Tutors, Word Processors and a great variety of data entry business applications where fast typing is required.
CT101 – Introduction to Computers
This course provides beginners with fundamental knowledge on using a computer. This course will teach you Microsoft Windows XP®, Typing, The Internet, fundamental and basic computer concepts, to manage your digital photos, video, music, games and word processor. In addition, learn how to troubleshoot and maintain you computer. Everyone is welcome!
CT102a – Word Processing (Microsoft Word 2007®)
Learn to use the most popular word processor in the market today. This course will teach you Microsoft Word 2007®. You will learn to create documents such as letters, flyers, faxes, memos, reports, resumes, forms, tables, mail merge, brochures and much more. Learn to use the most important tools to make professional documents.
CT102b—Electronic Spreadsheets (Microsoft Excel 2007®)
Learn Microsoft Excel® and organize your finances better. This course will teach you Microsoft Excel 2007®. You will learn to create reports, lists, inventories, and databases using the most important tools in this popular and easy-to-use application. Learn to use formulas, graphics to obtain quick answers and analyze your data better. This is a must know program for everyone!
CT103 – Graphics Design and Presentations
Love to draw, decorate, or design? This course will teach you three of the most popular graphic design applications in the market today: Microsoft PowerPoint 2007®, Microsoft Publisher 2007® and Adobe Photoshop CS®. Use these powerful applications to create business presentations, graphic design projects such as calendars, flyers, brochures, signs, business cards and more, and learn how to edit your digital photos. Combine these tools to create amazing projects to present ideas, sales or promote your business.
CT104 – Internet and Web Page Design
Learn to design web pages and become part of the world of the Internet. This course will teach you to use The Internet, and its different components, E-mail, Chat, FTP, Protocols, and Search Engines. In addition, you will learn to plan, design, create, publish and maintain your own personal or business web site. Learn HTML, and Microsoft FrontPage 2007® to create attractive and functional web pages.
CT105 – Databases
Enter the world of data organization with this fun and effective database course. This course will teach you everything you need to know to design, create and implement computer databases. Learn Microsoft Access 2007 ® to design databases to manage customers, vendors, products in any industry and market. Learn to create tables, queries, forms and reports and design useful and time-saving applications.
CT106 – Financial and Accounting Software (Intuit QuickBooks Pro ®)
Learn this popular and easy-to-use application to manage your personal or business finances. This course will teach you how to manage your bank accounts, credit cards, income and expenses, vendors, customers, employees, inventory and payroll. Create reports to analyze your income and expenses, budgets and more! Prepare business documents such as checks, estimates, invoices, sales receipts, purchase orders and more. Make the preparation of your income tax return easier with income and expense reports.
CT107 – Computer Local Area Networks
This course will teach you to plan, design and implement a Local Area Network (LAN). Learn about Network Protocols such as TCP/IP, network devices such as hubs, switches, routers, firewalls, software, IP addresses and cables. In addition you will learn to install, configure and manage Microsoft Windows 2007 ® server and Microsoft Windows XP Professional®.
CT108 – Computer Maintenance and Repair
Learn to repair computers and make extra money! This course will teach you to setup and configure computer motherboards, CPU’s, Memories, Disks, Audio, Video, Network, Modem cards. Also, you will learn to install software such as Microsoft Windows XP ®, troubleshoot, maintain and upgrade computers. Learn to maintain your computer’s health using antivirus, anti-spyware and malware, system utilities and more.
CT109 – Computer Programming I (C++)
Learn to write and develop programs yourself in this challenging course. This course will introduce you to Computer Programming using C++ Programming. You will learn the C++ language, symbols, variables, procedures, functions and classes, loops, conditions, arrays and pointers. Learn how programs are made and create your own basic programs to automate anything you need.
CT110 – Computer Programming II (Visual Basic)
Continue with the world of computer programming using Visual Basic. Learn to program using graphic objects and tools with Visual Basic programming.
